At Welker & Associates, we offer free consultations to anyone who is looking for help with their financial situation. You should never have to pay a trustee up front to discuss options. However, there are some companies who act as consultants for trustees and a representative from the company will meet with you to discuss your financial options. In most cases, the representative is NOT a Trustee. And that representative is also NOT free.

Since Licensed Insolvency Trustees are the ONLY professionals who can help you file a bankruptcy or a consumer proposal, the representative has to charge you for their services, and then they refer you to a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. Essentially, they are middle men who are drumming up business for a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. In the end, it costs you more money because you have to pay for the “middle man” up front.  Please note that the representative may refer to the trustee as a ‘Court appointed Officer’.

Do you have to pay for a referral to a Trustee?

No, you can meet with one of our Licensed Insolvency Trustees for free rather than paying a consultant to be referred to the Licensed Insolvency Trustee that they deal with.

Please note that Welker & Associates does not now, and will never, have a relationship with a debt consultant. Why? That’s pretty simple – we don’t believe that anyone should have to pay for a service that they can get for free.
