We’re here to help you deal with debt and give the best option possible depending on your personal situation.
Filing a consumer proposal is not a strategy for rebuilding your credit, it is a strategy to get out of debt.
Filing a consumer proposal results in a R7 (bad) credit rating that will remain on your credit bureau report for three years after your proposal is completed. Once your consumer proposal is completed you will be discharged/released of the debts that were included.
It is impossible to rebuild your credit rating when you are in collections and buried under debt.
The first step is to get out of debt and filing a consumer proposal is one way of doing that. Use our Debt Options Calculator to know your options.
Whether or not filing a consumer proposal is the right method for you to get out of debt depends on your situation:
- how much you owe
- who you owe
- how much income you have
- your family situation
- what assets you own
My best advice would be to contact our office to arrange a free consultation with one of our licensed trustees to review your situation and discuss options.
