We often meet with clients who are in so much debt that it has created problems with their physical and emotional well-being. When people are in debt, it can seem impossible to escape the continuing stress of credit cards, student loans, car loans, etc. Collection calls, past due bills and bank over-draft are constant reminders of the debt that is taking over your life.
When people come to see us, we are aware of the stress that has most likely consumed them. It is our goal to relieve them of this stress. Many people think that making a consumer proposal or filing personal bankruptcy is a negative thing. In actuality, many clients have told us that they were relieved to know that there is a way out of their debt. It may not be pretty as it will damage your credit rating for several years, but it’s the beginning of the end of the debt that have consumed you.
We recently received a message from a soon-to-be client that reiterates this. Part of the message read as so:
“I also want to take the opportunity to thank you for your time last week, and for the amazing possibility of not to have to worry about my debt, it is been so long since I have tried to fix the situation on my own and I am looking forward to have my life back without thinking about it, and you gave some peace of mind when you said it is possible and that is priceless, to not have that constant stress. I can’t wait for this to happen.”
Filing bankruptcy or making a consumer proposal doesn’t have to be negative. Looking at the big picture, it’s clear that once a decision is made to file bankruptcy or make a consumer proposal, it’s the beginning of a new life, free of debt.
